The girls decided to play fashion show today...here's how it started:
Kyra announcing for Siana:
"Here she comes folks, modeling her beautiful school look! She's coming back up the runway now...isn't she gorgeous??? Up next, model Kyra!"
Siana announcing for Kyra:
"She walks the plank! Gorgeous, baby! She's far away! She's awesome! She's poseable!"

High Connections
The girls were playing in the kitchen today while I was making dinner, and Siana apparently grew tired of whatever Kyra was doing. So all of a sudden, in a regal and authoritative voice, I hear Siana declare, "Stop. Do not do that to the Lord's woman!" Preach it, baby girl. I hope she remembers that line for when she starts dating.

Theatrics
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has long been a favorite musical in our house. Well, now dreams are turning into reality as Steven and Kyra both have a part in that very musical that's being put on by our local community college. Kyra is a member of the children's choir, and Steven scored the ever so fabulous role of the Pharoah (Elvis impressions and platform shoes here he comes!). Siana and I are looking forward to seeing both of them on stage and enjoying the performance, but I am admittedly getting a little weary of the incessant soundtrack day in and day out, amusing as it may be. First thing I hear in the morning, and last thing I hear at night is Siana belting out some random Joseph tune at the absolute top of her lungs. This is usually accompanied by Kyra whining...Sissyyyyyy...I'm trying to sleeeeeeep! And then later on after school, Kyra will join in and it becomes an all out concert. I may have to post some video of them...it's truly something to behold! So if any of you will be in our neck of the woods the first couple weeks of April, you'll definitely want to check it out!

Unusual Arguing
I heard a spat start up with the girls this afternoon, as is not all too uncommon around here. It was the typical one kid trying to take something the other has laid claim to either physically or mentally. Well, Kyra was trying to put on an item of dress-up clothing, and Siana was trying to get it back from her, so it went a little something like this:
Siana: GIVE IT BACK!!!
Kyra: Siana, you weren't using it!
Siana: GIVE IT BACK!!!
Kyra: Siana, I'm using it!
Siana: NO, SISSY! I NEED IT! GIVE IT BACK!!!
Kyra: But Siana, this is the season of peace and goodwill...
HA! That girl. She cracks me up.

Arguing the Important Points
The following is what I heard for several minutes this particularly combatative afternoon:
Kyra: It's a BUNNY!
Siana: NO! It's a WAMB! (lamb)
Kyra: It's a BUNNY!!!
Siana: IT'S A WAAAAMB!!!
Glad they're keeping the main thing the main thing.

Happy Easter!
Here are a few snaps of Easter at the Bruce house. The girls got books, a couple outfits, and a few healthy snacks from the Easter bunny. Ok, ok, and one unhealthy one, which of course was consumed immediately whilst the healthy treats made the cut much later in the day. Hope you all had a fabulous and fun Easter Sunday!

From my hallway to yours...
This was the girls' activity the other afternoon: they both donned as many headbands, rings, necklaces and scarves as they could support on their little bodies and ran up and down the hallway in clunky play shoes, announcing, "We are glamour girls!!!" They would load up on bling in their bathroom, run down the hallway to me in the kitchen, show me, run back and change out some of it, run back down to show me, etc. This went on for quite some time and they were quite entertained by it. The funniest part was Kyra running down the hallway with Siana, calling out to her in an extra fabulous voice, "Come on, glamma girl!" and Siana responding in her tiny little voice, "Comeeeeeeng!"

Funny Girls
Here are a couple pictures of the girls that just make me chuckle....
Siana is going to be quite the "girly girl" I think. Lately she's been walking around with Kyra's headbands, taking them on and off and on and off. She found this tiara among Kyra's dress up stuff and put it on, and here is the result:
Princess Baby Mullet:

Kyra's preschool class went to the fire station the other day to learn about fire safety and talk to some of the firefighters there. This fireman was the designated "prop" for all the pictures with the kids. He looks happy to be there taking pictures, but Kyra doesn't seem like she's as certain about the photo op.

Happy Days
Here are a couple recent pictures of the girls at one of the favorite places to go in town. It's a big indoor bounce house extravaganza. It really is quite fun and Steven and I have been known to get in there with them....=) Hey, it's good exercise! Anyway, they had a great time and we got some cute snaps of them having a blast....

Tough Love
To prepare Kyra for Siana's arrival, we had long been hyping up how much fun she was going to have with her baby sister and how much they would love each other. This strategy seemed to have worked a little too well. We wanted to make sure Kyra loved her little sister, hoping to offset some of the jealousy issues by establishing a relationship even before Siana was born. However, we should also have incorporated some practice in how to touch and talk to babies in that process of generating excitement. Kyra has always been a pretty touchy-feely, physical kid. So from the first time they met, Kyra was right in the baby's face kissing her, squeezing her in big bear hugs, giving her "noses" (Eskimo kisses), and generally mauling her in the process of showing her affection. So every day now, it seems like the only word that comes out of my mouth is ....gentle.... This experience has given new meaning to the phrase "love her to pieces."
