Bwessed Be a Name of a Nord

You may have heard of the song "Blessed Be Your Name." It's on the latest Zoe Group CD, Desperate, which we've been listening to frequently in the car. Kyra enjoys this song, and it has become one of the regulars in her rotation. This morning, she saw a church song book that Steven had left out on the desk, so she picked it up, opened it up, and started singing some songs. I was checking my email during all this, and what she sang was so hysterical, I typed it as she sang. Here are the real lyrics to the song, followed by Kyra's version, which combines some of the verses, and even throws in a line from Here I Am to Worship. =) She's only 2, and she's already picked up on Steven's style of doing medleys. haha So here goes....I hope you know the song, because it probably wouldn't be even half as funny if you were unfamiliar with it:

Here are the real lyrics:
One verse says this:
Blessed be your name when I'm found in a desert place, though I walk through the wilderness,
Blessed be your name

Another verse says this:
Blessed be your name on a road marked with suffering, though there's pain in the offering,
Blessed be your name

Here's the chorus:
Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be your glorious name!

And finally, the bridge, which starts out with just the women singing:
You give and take away, you give and take away,
My heart will choose to say, Lord, blessed be your name

And now here is Kyra's version from this morning:

Bwessed be a name of a Nord, bwessed be a naaaaame.

Bwessed be a name, in a wand in anoppah pwace, bwessed be a naaaaame.

Bwessed be a name, in a world in a nuppawing, bwessed be a naaaaame.

Bwessed be a name of a Nord, bwessed be a gworious name

You up an nake awaaaaay, You up an nake awaaaaay (sung very high)

He I am a wuhsip, He I am a fall down (don't know how that got thrown in)

Bwessed be a naaaaaame!

Identity Crisis?

At bedtime, Steven called Kyra over to where he was sitting by saying, "Come here, Lady."

Kyra looked at him and said, "No, I'm not a wady. Mommy's a wady. I'm a baby!"

So he laughed and said, "Ok, come here, sweet baby!"

To which she replied, "No, don't say dat, Daddy. I'm not a baby! I'm a girl!"

2...such a confusing age...not a baby, but not a "kid" yet either.... haha

And poor Daddy, when he finally got her to come over and sit by him, he tried to give her kisses and she pushed him away because "No, Daddy, no kiss me, you need to shave...you scwatchy!" She promptly got up, came over to me, touched my cheek and sat down by me, saying, "Mommy, you soft!"

Quotables

What a month! Kyra and I went to Michigan the 17th of November and stayed until after Thanksgiving. We had a wonderful time reconnecting with family up there. Steven joined us the day before Thanksgiving and brought with him all the germs he was harboring with a nasty cold. Ugh. We spent Thanksgiving first with my family and then drove north to spend time with his as well. The next couple days, we were at Steven's mom's house with him and Melissa, who were both sick, so naturally we brought it back home with us and I got sick all the next week, then gave it to Kyra, so we currently trying to rid our house and our bodies of germs so we can enjoy the holiday season. In the meantime, Kyra has been coming up with some hilarious comments along the way, so I thought I'd post a few of her really funny ones here. So enjoy!

Steven occasionally grows out his facial hair a bit, and thought he'd do that recently. Kyra had other plans. Multiple times a day for several days in a row, this was her comment:
"Daddy, you need to shave. Go in your bafwoom and shave. Now."

She is getting pretty good at this whole sharing thing, so the other day at dinner, we were having pancakes and she was eating her last few bites. She offered Steven a bite, which he took, because he always complains about never getting enough pancakes. She then offered me a bite, which I also accepted. After sharing with both of us, she looks around the room, holding a bite of pancake on her Sesame Street fork, and says "Who's next?"

Sunday, we had our church Christmas party, so Kyra and I spent the afternoon at our minister and his wife's house to take naps and rest before that evening. Steven, of course, was at church setting stuff up. =) There was a guest bed and a crib conveniently in the same room, so I napped while Kyra read books and sang and eventually started conversing with a framed poem on the wall. I woke up to find her saying this:
"Hi picture! How are you? Nice to meet you! Wanna see my tummy again?" Then she proceeded to flash her tummy to the picture. Random, yes, but funny!

Kyra's newest favorite phrase is now "Not weawwy." Translation: Not really. I don't know where she picked it up, but now it's "Kyra, are you ready for naps?" "No, not weawwy." or "Won't that be fun?" "Not weawwy." Oh my. =)

Her other favorite thing to say is "I'm just..." She uses this mostly when she doesn't want to do something you're asking her to do. We'll say "Kyra, it's time for bed," which she promptly dismisses with "No, I'm just weadin' dis book." The other day in the car, she was not happy to be leaving, and she was crying. It was very obviously not a genuine cry, as every once in a while, she would pause to check on any effect the commotion was having on Mommy and Daddy. When she found there was no response, she'd start up again. At one point, I turned to her and said "We're going home! Are you ready to be back at home?" to which she responded, "No, Mommy, I'm just cwyin." We found that to be pretty humorous!
